Friday, June 12, 2009
Plymouth County Cyclists announce their second annual invitational bicycle ride, Tour de Plymouth 2009.

The ride will be held June 20 during Le Mars Ice Cream Days.

Registration for the ride is from 7 to 8 a.m. in the Hy-Vee parking area at 1201 12th Ave. S.W. in Le Mars.

There will be two routes, one 25 miles and a longer ride of 60 miles. Riders should be prepared to begin their ride by 8 a.m.

Registered riders will begin the day with a breakfast buffet at Hy-Vee and conclude with their favorite Blue Bunny novelty.

Riders will also receive their choice of a commemorative T-shirt and a cool dip in the Le Mars swimming pool. A massage will be available at a reduced cost.

During the ride there will be three rest stops with bottled water, Powerade, bananas and home-baked cookies available. A support team will be on hand for riders that may need help.

"The first Tour de Plymouth last year was a great success with many compliments from enthusiastic participants," said Monte Brent, chief ride organizer and president of the Plymouth County Cyclists. "This year's ride promises to be even better."

The cost of the ride is $25 for riders 13 years and older and $10 for those 12 years and under.

Parties interested in preregistration may obtain a ride poster/registration form on the club's web site: www.plymouthcountycyclists.com.

Early registration is encouraged.
