The City of Akron's timeline to receive TIF revenue from the Akron Urban Renewal Area, which includes the Akron Portlandville Heights Subdivision, is set to expire June 2010.
More time to collect TIF revenue is needed to help pay for infrastructure such as roads or curb and gutter within the 11-acre subdivision.
The original timeline for the TIF district was 11 years. The five-year extension will mean a total of 16 years, which is the maximum allowed.
The other taxing entities within the TIF district, Akron-Westfield Community School and Western Iowa Tech Community College, already okayed the extension.
In other business, the supervisors approved Plymouth County sheriff's deputies and other departments' deputies' 2009-10 salaries.
Each deputy's wage is determined based on number of years employed and a percentage of each department's elected official's salary.
For example, Sheriff Mike Van Otterloo's annual salary is $72,813.72 and Chief Craig Bartolozzi receives 85 percent of that or $61,891.66.
