Graduation set at five county schools Sunday

Seniors from five Plymouth County high schools, Kingsley-Pierson, Remsen-Union, St. Mary's at Remsen, Hinton and Akron-Westfield, will don their caps and gowns for graduation ceremonies this Sunday.

Commencement exercises at Kingsley-Pierson will start at 2 p.m. Sunday and be held in the Kingsley Gymnasium.

K-P's senior awards night is 7 p.m. today (Thursday), at the E.V. Heacock Auditorium. Both events are open to the public.

Commencement exercises at Remsen-Union will be 1 p.m. in the high school gymnasium. The class has 24 graduates. Class valedictorian and salutatorian will give the graduation address.

The presentation of scholarships will also be made during the commencement exercises.

Remsen St. Mary's will hold its commencement ceremony 2 p.m. Sunday in the high school gymnasium. Both the valedictorian and salutatorian will give an address.

The commencement address will be given by St. Mary's junior high English teacher Kim Phillips. Awards and scholarships will also be presented.

Graduation exercises at Hinton High School will be 2 p.m. Sunday in the school's gymnasium. Speakers will be Alex Vondrak, senior class president and James Vondrak, valedictorian.

Graduation ceremonies at Akron-Westfield begin at 2 p.m. Sunday. Two senior speakers, Michael Oetken and Jordan Dirks, will address their classmates, family and friends during the ceremony.

Commencement exercises for Le Mars Community and Gehlen Catholic will be held Sunday, May 24.
