LCS presents Parade of Bands April 30

The Le Mars Community Schools Music Department will hold its annual Parade of Bands concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 30, in the Carey High School Gymnasium. Seniors will be recognized at this concert.

The Fifth Grade Band will start the concert with its first performance ever. It will be playing "G-Force Five," "Cardiff Castle" and "Cowboy Cattle Drive."

The Sixth Grade Band will then share its selections of "Dialogues," "Mambo No. 5" and "Manhatten Beach March." Both of these bands are under the direction of Randy Benton.

The Middle School Concert Band of seventh and eighth graders combined, will share four selections under the direction of Mary Kay Benton. "Torch of Liberty" (a King march), "Piper's Rhapsody," "Sabre Dance" and the overture - "Impact."

The Le Mars Community High School Big Red Band will share its state large group selections -- "A Jubilant Overture," "Blessed Are They" and "The Crosley March."

The high school band is under the direction of Curt Ohrlund. It will be participating in High School State Large Group Contest Friday, May 8, which will be held in Spirit Lake.

The 5-12 grade bands will end the program with a combined patriotic selection - "American Spirit Overture."

Directors and students invite the public to come and enjoy an evening of music. There is no admission charge.
