Arbitration hearing set for LCS teacher contract negotiations

An arbitration hearing for the Le Mars Community School District and Le Mars Education Association will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, April 23, at the Education Service Center, 940 Lincoln St. S.W.

The meeting will be conducted by arbitrator Sharon Gallagher, who will receive information from both the school district and the teachers' association regarding contract negotiations for the 2009-10 school year.

The arbitration hearing is subject to the Iowa open meetings law and is open to the public to attend. Public comment is not allowed during the hearing.

Hope the teachers union remembers that there is an economic crisis in our midst. Please take pay cuts like the rest of us have had to; allow the students to have a better education and extracurricular activities. Teachers and staff make up the majority of the education budget.
