Lawton-Bronson leads the standings with 150 while R-U sits at 161.
"I'm happy with the way we played (Thursday)," said R-U coach Steve Neuberger, who is in his first season as the coach. "It was kind of breezy out there, but we hit around it pretty well."
Colin Sonnichsen carded a runner-up 37 on Thursday. Cody Leonard shot a 39, Josh Bohnenkamp shot a 41 and Thomas Miller wrapped up counting scores with a 44.
"There were a lot of schools and a lot of golfers separated by a couple of strokes," Neuberger said.
Tyler Fiedler and Tyler Van Dam each shot non-counting 47s.
"The guys and girls both - it's a bunch of kids who enjoy golfing," Neuberger said. "You can tell that in practice they're anxious to work on their games."
Kingsley-Pierson sits two places back at 166. Evan Klingensmith shot a 38 to lead the Panthers. Matt Young was on his heels with a 39. Ben Goracke carded a 41 and Chris Olson concluded counting scores with a 48. Zach Rollefson shot a non-counting 49.
Western Valley Conference golf action continues Monday at Woodbury Central.
