Children to learn about sexual abuse prevention

Monday, March 30, 2009
Happy Bear will visit Le Mars Public Library this week to teach children about good, bad and mixed-up touch.

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month.

The panda mascot, sponsored by the Council on Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence (CSADV), will lead a sexual abuse prevention and safety program 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 1.

The free program is geared toward preschool and kindergarten children.

It explains the importance of telling someone if they are inappropriately touched, how to tell and helps identify who they can tell.

Children will learn how to recognize, resist and report sexual abuse.

An information booklet will be sent home about body safety.

For more information or to register, call the library at 546-5004 or the Plymouth County CSADV office at 546-6764.
