The Le Mars Community School dance team is hosting a dance exhibition Friday night at the high school gym.

The performance, which begins at 7 p.m., will include performances of their dances this year, a co-ed dance with guys from the high school, and dances from four other schools' dance teams.

Remsen-Union, Remsen St. Mary's, Woodbury Central and Gehlen Catholic dancers will also take the stage.

The night will also feature a dance by local kindergarten through fifth graders.

Those dancers will attend a Thursday night workshop, put on by LCS students to learn a short dance that they'll perform Friday night.

The doors for the exhibition open at 6:30 p.m., Friday, Feb. 27 at the high school gym. There is a $3 fee, and children 5 and under get in free.

"It's a great fundraiser for us, bringing all these different schools in," said advisor Amy Davis.

The team uses the money raised to help buy new uniforms and to travel to the state competition each year.

At state this year, the team earned fourth place on their kick routine and fifth for their pom routine.

The team is coached by Davis and Stacy Bunkers.

Excellent fundraiser idea. Kudos to the coach and team!
