LCMS presents winter band concert Feb. 12

The Le Mars Community Middle School Music Department will hold its winter band concert at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, in the middle school auditorium.

The middle school Jazz Band participated in the NWIBA Jazz Festival last week and it will open the program with "Live A Little," "Back and Forth," "Every Sunrise is a Bonus," "Senorita Fajita" and "Carry On Wayward Son."

There are several soloists throughout the selections: Nicole Van Otterloo, alto sax, Matt Strub, bari sax, David Lamp, trombone, Evan Richards, trombone, Karter Ewing, trombone, Brendan Harms, trumpet, Zach Kooistra, trumpet, Rodrigo Cobian, trumpet, Mitch Mack, trumpet, Rebecca Luksan, drumset/piano, and Tim Fett, bass The group is under the direction of Mary Kay Benton.

The Sixth Grade Concert Band will continue on with its selections, under the direction of Randy Benton. They are: "Triton Fanfare," "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl" and "Knightsbridge March."

The 7/8 Concert Band will end the program with "Fiesta," "John Williams Trilogy," "Sparks" and "Hungarian Dance No. 5." This band is under the direction of Mary Kay Benton.

There is an admission charge of $3 for adults and $2 for students. All passes are honored. The directors encourage the public to come support these students and enjoy a night of music.
