Mildred was born July 30, 1912, in Bronson, the daughter of Fred and Edna (Prynn) Kamm. She attended country school and then graduated from Sioux City East in 1930. She married Henry Cornils on Jan. 8, 1938, in Sioux City. He died May 14, 1979.
Mildred was a lifelong resident of the family farm until 1979 when she moved to the Morningside area in Sioux City. She was a lifelong resident of the Siouxland area.
Mildred was a farmer's wife and a homemaker.
She was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Sioux City.
She enjoyed playing cards with family and friends, shopping, feeding everybody, dancing, social outings, family gatherings, and babysitting the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her daughter, LeAnn and Don Hurlbut of Le Mars; grandchildren Sheryl and Brad Brooks of Merrill, and Randy Hurlbut of Newton; three great-grandchildren, Kyle and Tonya Brooks of Cedar Falls, Korey Brooks of St. Cloud, Minn., and Kolin Brooks of Merrill.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents and a brother, Edward.
Funeral servies were at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel with Pastor Craig Bock of St. Luke Evangelical Lutheran Church, Sioux City officiating. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City. Visitation was Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m., and a prayer service at 7 p.m.
