Hinton's De Rocher second at West Sioux

Hinton senior Eric Held finished sixth in the 171-pound weight class at the West Sioux Invite on Saturday in Hawarden.

Hinton junior Devin DeRocher finished second at 125 pounds. He defeated Sioux Center's Pedro Ruiz 8-7 in the semifinals before dropping the championship match.

The two were the only two varsity wrestlers who competed for Hinton. The remainder of the team wrestled at a junior varsity tournament at Sioux City West.

"They have to get confidence in their skills," Hinton coach Jan George said of his junior varsity grapplers.

"When you're constantly getting hammered at the varsity level, it's a nice opportunity for them to gain valuable experience."
