Area Girl Scouts host cookie Kick Off for girls

The Le Mars and Merrill Girl Scouts of Greater Iowa will be hosting a Cookie Blitz Kick-Off for all area girls on Friday, Jan. 16 at the Le Mars Community Middle School from 7-9 p.m.

It's all about the cookie sale - girls are invited to learn about the cookie sale on Friday night with music, cookie samples, activities and information for parents and girls about the upcoming cookie sale.

The Girl Scout Cookie sale begins Friday, January 16 and ends Sunday, February 1.

The event is designed for girls who are currently registered in troops and for those girls who have yet to join Girl Scouts. The kickoff and cookie sales are for girls in kindergarten through 12th grade.

For those girls in who are not registered and would like to join Girl Scouts, a registration table will be set up for girls and parents on Friday night at 6:45 pm.

Parents must be present to sign permission slips and registration forms and pay the membership fee.

Financial assistance is available for the $10 annual Girl Scout membership fee.

Cost per girl to attend the Cookie Kick-off is $1 (girls who are not currently registered with Girl Scouts will need to pay $11).

Deadline to register for the event is Monday, January 12 .
