LCHS musicians present Holiday Concert Dec. 15

Students at Le Mars Community High School will present their Holiday Concert at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 15, in Carey Gymnasium.

This concert features the concert choir, chamber choir, orchestra and concert band in a variety of holiday selections.

The concert choir will open the evening program with "Do You Hear What I Hear?" They will continue with "Carols Around (And a Round)" and end their portion of the program with "Sleigh Ride."

The orchestra will present "Troika from Lt. Kije" by Prokofiev/arranged by Wieloszynski, and continue with "Greensleeves Variations" by Richard Stephan.

The chamber choir will take the stage with "Deck the Halls in 7/8" followed by "Ava Maria." They will close their portion of the program with "Fruitcake" by Philip Hagemann and Penny Leka.

The final group to perform will be the concert band. They will present "Charleston Harbor Celebration" by Robert Sheldon; "Whispers" by Sandy Feldstein and Larry Clark and "The President's March" by Henry Fillmore. They will conclude the program with "A Fresh Aire Christmas" arranged by Calvin Custer.

The choirs are under the direction of Randy Ewing. Ted Hallberg is orchestra director and Curt Ohrlund is director of bands.

There is no charge to attend the concert and the public is encouraged to attend.

It has been the "holiday" concert for the last 25 years. Nothing new. Just celebrate the student's performance and don't worry about the name.

it is a public school.

it is not a religious school.

if you want religion in your school, go to gehlen.

if you don't want religion in your school, go to a public school.

they are going to be free of a dominant religion, and that's the way it should be.

also, can we note the fact that the program is filled with christmas-related songs?

so the only thing that's upsetting is the title?

i'm sure if jesus came back to the world his first order of business would be getting the lchs holiday concert changed to the lchs christmas concert. having fixed that, then he'd go stop murders and poverty and domestic abuse and genocide. but first, yes, get that holiday concert called a christmas concert (even though it is filled with songs that talk about christmas) otherwise the children of the world will be evil.
