Gehlen elementary present Christmas concert Dec. 11

The Gehlen Catholic Elementary Vocal Music Department will present its Christmas concert and mini-musical 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 11, in the school gymnasium.

The evening begins with the kindergarten through sixth graders singing various Christmas songs, along with the debut of this year's fourth grade class and their recorders.

Between songs, various elementary piano students will present their Christmas selections.

The concert will conclude this year's mini-musical, "Once Upon A Starry Night," featuring the sixth grade class. It features an "All Star cast" including Comet Powell (Aaron Britt), Lieutenant Star (Michaela Bretey), Little Glow (Allison Perera), and Big Glow (Abigail Chagolla).

All stars discover the importance of being used by God wherever He asks them to shine. The show has a little lost lamb, Baabara (Carli Bollin) who follows the star and finds her way home to Bethlehem.

Are there shepherds, sheep, wise men and angels in the story too?

The concert and mini-musical are under the direction of transitional kindergarten through eighth grade vocal music director Beverly Evans. Costumes and scenery are under the direction of Pat Beitelspacher.

The concert is open to the public.
