Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars has been named a 2008 Summit Award Winner by Press Ganey Associates, Inc.

Press Ganey currently partners with more than 7,000 health care facilities -- including more than 40 percent of U.S. hospitals -- to measure and improve the quality of their care. The company's databases are the largest in the industry, and allow facilities nationwide to benchmark results against peer organizations.

The Summit Award recognizes top performing facilities that sustain the highest level of customer satisfaction for three or more consecutive years. The Press Ganey Summit Award is the health care satisfaction industry's most coveted symbol of achievement bestowed annually, and Floyd Valley Hospital is just one of the nation's 46 organizations to receive this prestigious honor in 2008. Floyd Valley Hospital's award recognizes their achievement in Emergency Care.

The Emergency Department Medical Director Dr. Sheila Holcomb commented, "I am proud to be part of a team that believes quality health care, dedication and patient satisfaction are all top priorities. Receiving this award for a second consecutive year is proof of the strong commitment that Floyd Valley Hospital and Medical Associates have towards providing top quality, experienced emergency care."

Dr. Melvin F. Hall, president and CEO of Press Ganey, noted, "We are proud partners of Floyd Valley Hospital. They continue to maintain a high level of patient satisfaction over the past three years. Their efforts benefit Plymouth County and lead to improved delivery of health care."

"What a great honor for Floyd Valley Hospital. It is a true recognition of the hard work and dedication of the entire staff symbolizing our efforts to make our patients our top priority and give them the level of care they need," Loretta Myers, Director of Patient Care states.

Mike Donlin, Administrator added, "I am very proud of this team! To maintain such a high level of patient satisfaction requires hospital, nursing and medical staff work together as a team. To achieve such high patient feedback for four consecutive years is nothing short of outstanding!"

There will be a community celebration for the Summit Award from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 12, in the Floyd Valley Hospital Conference Center.
