Thanksgiving weekend shoppers in Le Mars will see stores sparkling and twinkling in holiday decor as they find the perfect gift for under the Christmas tree.

Twenty-six Le Mars businesses will take part in the "Parade of Trees" promotion Wednesday through Saturday, Nov. 26-30.

Shoppers and visitors are invited to view the themed Christmas trees and register for a chance to win one of the three $500 prizes during the Le Mars Chamber of Commerce sponsored holiday event.

Beautifully decorated Christmas trees will be on display, many with themes.

At the Blue Bunny Ice Cream Parlor, the tree is decorated with tin children's toys from the collection of Barbara Nielsen of Le Mars. Nielsen calls the tree a Children's Victorian Christmas tree, decorated in a style which would adorn a children's room in that era and be decorated by the children and their nanny.

Many vintage toys surround the tree, and under the branches are three bears, watching the parade of toys around the tree.

At Hotopp Jewelry and Gifts look for the holiday garden tree, while Vollmar's Shoes shows off their Hush Puppy® Tree, featuring a number of the colorful pups.

At Joba's check out the classy home décor tree, while Radio Shack decorates their tree in batteries and robot bugs.

Other participating businesses include Bomgaars, Bricker's Jewelry, Claussen's Menswear, Close to Home, Emily's Home Furnishings, Inc., Fareway, Fashionette, Godfather's Pizza, Hy-Vee Food Stores, Inc., Le Mars Arts Center, Le Mars Beauty College, Originals by Design, Pizza Hut, Pizza Ranch, Premier Communication, Primebank, Rust's Western Shed, Subway Inc., Sunshine Natural Foods, Vantus Bank, Wal-Mart Super Center and Wireless World/Verizon.

While visiting these businesses, take along the Parade of Prizes Holiday card and get it stamped at the participate stores. Cards have been distributed through the Le Mars Daily Sentinel and Shoppers Guide, with cards also available at participating businesses.

A minimum of 10 business stamps must be on the card which may then be left with any participating merchant. Three people will be lucky winners of either a $500 Hy-Vee gas gift card; a $500 grocery gift card from Fareway, or $500 in Chamber Holiday dollars. No purchase is necessary and participants must be 18 years of age or older to be eligible to win. Drawing will be held Dec. 2.
