Virginia "Gini" Ann Cox was born Aug. 14, 1936, the daughter of Ralph and Maude (Dunn) Cox. Gini was raised on a farm in Adams County, Iowa. She attended country school and later graduated from Lenox High School in Lenox in 1954. She furthered her education at Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Mo. Gini was united in marriage at Lenox to Gene Roe on Sept. 4, 1955. They were the proud parents of three daughters, Terri, Merri, and Lori. Gene had worked for Farm Services/Growmark for many years. The family had lived in Council Bluffs, Princeton, Wis., and Grinnell. Gini, Gene, and their daughters moved to Le Mars in 1973.
Gini enjoyed making a home for her family. In later years, she enjoyed working with her daughter Lori at Witzend in Le Mars. Gini was a very artistic and talented person. She loved to work in her yard creating a utopia for all of God's creatures. She enjoyed her flower gardens and watching the birds, squirrels, and rabbits enjoying sanctuary in her yard.
Gini also enjoyed decorating her home with the changing seasons. She was able to share her talents of drawing with her grandchildren as they grew up. Her family was her main priority in life. She loved to have her daughters and their families for her favorite times of the year, Christmas, Easter, and summer family visits when her gardens were in full bloom.
Gini is survived by two daughters, Terri Henderson and her husband Kirk of Waterloo, and Lori Schrank and her husband Steve of Danbury; a son-in-law, Tom McCrea of Austin, Texas; seven grandchildren: Heidi (Chris) Wilson, Kent McCrea, Tory McCrea, Lexi Schrank, Jennifer Schrank, Sara Schrank, and Brett Schrank; four great-grandchildren: Julia Wilson, Jon Wilson, Trenton Segebart, and Emma Segebart; a sister, Peggy Osborne and her husband Richard; a brother, John Cox and his wife Marjorie; a brother-in-law, Dean Roe of Stuart; two sisters-in-law, Bonnie Ridgley of Miami, Fla., and Dorie Key and her husband Reldon of Lenox; and several nieces and nephews.
