Bernard Frank Wiederholt was born Dec. 8, 1939, in Remsen, the son of Ben and Amanda (Schierholt) Wiederholt. He attended Le Mars Community Schools.
On Jan. 21, 1961, Bernie and Elaine Siebels were united in marriage at Remsen. In early years Bernie worked for Le Mars Transfer Co. and Lefkow Supply in Sioux City. He would later begin his career as a lineman at Northwest Iowa Power Cooperative (NIPCO). He retired as a foreman in 2004.
Bernie was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Le Mars. He enjoyed fishing and collecting all types of toys.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Elaine of Le Mars; a son Doug of Le Mars; special family friends Jack and LaVon Holton of Le Mars; sisters-in-law Helen and Rita Wiederholt of Le Mars; Blanche Wiederholt of Remsen, Aggie Wiederholt of Granville and Charline Roepke and her husband Darrell of Hinton; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister Verena Breckmann and her husband Frank; brothers Vitus, Ermin, Luverne, Leonard, Marvin and Urban; his mother and father-in-law Meta and Harry Siebels; and a sister-in-law Lucille Ludwigs.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. James Catholic Church in Le Mars. The Rev. Jim Tigges will officiate. Burial will follow at Memorial Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. today (Thursday) at the Mauer - Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars. The family will be present from 5 to 7 p.m. with a Scriptural prayer service at 7 p.m. There will also be one hour of visitation at the church prior to Mass on Friday.
