Vote today

Tuesday, November 4, 2008
All across the United States, eligible voters will cast their ballot today in the 56th consecutive presidential election.

Republican John McCain, a U.S. Senator from Arizona, faces off with Democrat Barack Obama, a U.S. Senator from Illinois as the major party candidates.

This election is the first time in the nation's history that two sitting senators are running against each other for president and the first time both major candidates were born outside the continental United States.

Obama was born in Hawaii and McCain in the Panama Canal Zone.

Also with Obama being the first African American to be nominated by a major party and Alaska Governor Sarah Palin running as McCain's vice presidential candidate, the election will make history.
