The public is welcome to sample the various ethnic foods until the supply is gone. Clover Sanow of Remsen will be at the keyboard to provide Oktoberfest music.
In addition to the food fair this Sunday, the Museum will host another series of "Around Town Tours" at 1:30 p.m. in the Music Room. A display will open at 1 p.m. in the Home Room. Featured will be the communities of Merrill, Oyens and Remsen.
The afternoon program also will recognize the contribution of quilter Geri Dreckman, who created the Round Barn quilt auctioned off at the 2008 fair. After Greg and Pam Wells and Bruce and Teri Brock were the successful bidders on the quilt, they presented their $2,000 purchase to the Plymouth County Fair Board. The board then agreed to allow the Museum to exhibit the quilt throughout the year when the fair is not in progress.
Among this year's offerings at the Ethnic Food Fair will be the following booths:
All-American apple stand: Norm Koch
Belize: Yvette Bowen
Bohemia: Marian Baker and Wilma Jessen
Luxembourg: Myrt Weiler and Ethel Heidesch
Malaysia: Yatty Mohammad
Native American: Paul Williams
Netherlands: Eva Mouw
Peru: Carmen Moir
Root beer stand: the Museum
The Museum expects at least 12 booths this year.
More ethnic booths are welcome at the fair. Anyone who would like to share an ethnic dish should contact the Museum immediately, 546-7002, or e-mail pchm@lemarscomm.net. There is no charge to exhibitors.
