Ferris and Fern Ohl

Ferris and Fern Ohl of Hinton celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with a family reunion and vacation at Okoboji over the Labor Day weekend.

Their children are Randy and Cindy Ohl of Sioux City, Candy and Tom Flaherty of Bozeman, Mont., Steve Ohl of Boulder City, Nev., and Ryan and Toni Ohl of HInton. The couple has 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Mr. Ohl and the former Fern Bretthauer were married Sept. 12, 1948, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ute.

Mr. Ohl, a lifetime farmer, is semi-retired. He has a huge garden with the help of their grandchildren. He was also a realtor for a few years. Mrs. Ohl was a realtor in Sioux City for 18 years. She has been a Lamplighter for 52 years with Lutheran Service Society. She has visited nursing homes since 1956 and has been doing the services at Sunrise Manor since 1961.

The couple farmed in the Ute area before purchasing a farm near Hinton in 1955.
