Linda was born on Sept. 5, 1951, in Estherville, the daughter of Darold and Phyllis (Martin) Griffith. She lived in Estherville her entire life where she graduated from high school in 1969. She met the love of her life on the first day of college and Herb and Linda celebrated their 37th anniversary on May 1, 2008.
After college she was the plant manager's secretary at John Morrell & Co. until the birth of her children. In 1982 she and her husband established Ruden's Construction and Ruden's Rental Center, which they sold in 1998. Besides helping with the construction business, she also worked part time at the I.L.C.C. computer center. She also helped her sister run the local Super 8 doing desk work.
Linda was a past bowler in many leagues where she held many officer positions including secretary/treasurer of the EWBA. Linda loved music and was a past member of the Spirit of Harmony Sweet Adelines and later a charter member of the Country Chords, which later became Many Voices Choir.
She was a self-described "Chatty Cathy" who never knew a stranger. Linda was passionate about animals, especially neglected animals. Her Shih-Tzu, Buffy, will be lost without her. Linda's favorite place was the kitchen where she loved creating meals and desserts for family and friends. She was very proud that both of her children also have the "cooking gene." Oh, and she also enjoyed slot machines!
Linda will be greatly missed by her husband, Herb; daughter Robynn (Mark) Hanson and their children Karley, Brady and Clay; son, Ryan (Tabitha) Ruden and their children Taryn and Weston, all of Estherville; brother Robert Griffith; brother-in-law Jerry "Pete" Peterson; two nephews Todd (Melissa) Gunderson and daughter Baily and Ken Gunderson.
She had a loving, extended family, after marriage that includes her mother-in-law (and phone friend) Lorraine Ruden; brother-in law Don Ney; brother-in-law Larry (Sharon) Ruden; sister-in-law Helen Renken (Dennis); brother-in-law Gary (Kathy) Ruden; brother-in-law Bob (friend Kay); sister-in-law Bev Paulin (Bud); and brother-in-law Phil (Linda) Ruden; and many, many wonderful nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She is also survived by her best friend since childhood, Jane Hassel.
Her spirit, humor, wisdom, attention to detail and enthusiasm for life were unmatched by many!
With her in heaven are her grandparents; parents; sister Sandee Peterson; an infant sister Donna; father-in-law; and three sisters-in-law, baby girl Ruden, Bonnie and Joannie.
