Thomas R. Faunce, 55, of Port Orange, Fla., and formerly of Connecticut died Thursday, Aug.7, 2008, after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Tom was born Oct. 27, 1952, in Naugutuck, Conn., the son of Bill Hoffman and the late Carol (Mclean) Hoffman. He was a resident of Port Orange for the past 20 years.
He was a 23-year veteran, retired Sergeant Major of the United States Army; having served two tours in Vietnam. He returned to the states and served as a recruiter across the United States.
He was Assistant Director of Nursing at Manor on the Green in Daytona Beach, Florida.
He was an avid reader and skilled woodworker. He was known for his wit and sense of humor, and he enjoyed summers on Bantam Lake in Connecticut with his family and watching the Dallas Cowboys. Tom will be forever remembered by his family and friends who will always love him.
Tom is survived by Laurie (Rowenhorst) Faunce his wife of 30 years, and his daughter, Kirsten and her husband Jim Shrader of Le Mars, granddaughter Whitney and grandson Justus.
