Fairgoers rate economy first in election

Thursday, July 31, 2008
Presidential candidates better know more about money than how to spend it, according to a survey conducted at the Plymouth County Fair.

In a questionaire given to 500 voting-age fairgoers at the Plymouth County Republicans' booth, responders solidly placed "The Economy" as the leading issue that would influence their vote.

"I think a lot of people are linking the economy to gas prices," said Don Kass, a county Republican who helped conduct the survey. "And if the rest of the U.S. is having a rough time, Iowa will feel it, too."

People responding to the survey at the fair were asked to rank eight items on a scale of one to 10, with 10 being the most important. The results were released Wednesday.

Second was "National Security/Terrorism," which followed "The Economy" by several points. Fairgoers ranked "Energy" as a close third.

Following in the rankings, "Immigration" placed fourth, "Taxes" placed fifth, "Health Care" placed sixth, "Judicial/Supreme Court Appointments" placed seventh and "Right to Life" placed eighth.

Voters on the survey also picked their favorite for a runningmate for Senator John McCain, presidential candidate.

"An overwhelming majority of 64 percent said Sen. McCain should pick former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney to be his vice president," stated Jim Truemper, co-chairman of the Plymouth County Republican Party Central Committee in the press release on the results. "Connecticut Sen. Joe Leiberman came in a distant second at 8.8 percent."

Also receiving votes were:

*Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty with 6.9 percent

*Alaska Governor Sarah Palin with 6.1 percent

*Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal with 5.2 percent

*Florida Governor Charlie Crist with 3.4

"A smattering of other candidates received votes, but none surpassed the 1% mark," Truemper stated.

All fairgoers, he added, were given an opportunity to participate in the poll regardless of party affiliation or where they lived.

If we don't force House leader Nancy Pelosi and host of genuflecting Democrats to sponsor the federal SAVE ACT (H.R.4088). The illegal immigration occupation of our nation will never stop. ICE letting illegal aliens voluntary leave at their own accord, but Lets-be-honest how long before, their climbing that fence again? All we need is the Mandatory E-verify system to make employers comply with our laws. If you listen to the rhetoric and lies, the Democrats say it doesn't work? Then why does the Fed's use to extract illegal aliens from their employment. Learn more at http://www.timesgazette.com/main.asp?Sec...

They will keep coming and taxpayers will keep having to support them and the pariah businesses that attract them. Without the SAVE ACT enacted, not even a border fence will stop them? Once they get Obama or McCains Amnesty, millions more just waiting in third world countries will expect a welcome.

Then not even the US border patrol, the National Guard or the regular army, navy, air force will stop the tsunami. It will be like a ever increasing swarm of locusts, that eat everything financial in sight.

Your wages will go down, when your jobs are given to cheap foreign labor. The globalist, open-border free traders will have won. Overpopulation will be a paramount stigma that will not be irreversible. After November election it will be far too late. www.numbersusa.com to fax free your representative
