15 young ladies seek fair queen crown

One of these 15 young ladies will be crowned the 2008 Plymouth County Fair Queen at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 23, in the Plymouth County Fair grandstands arena. The candidates are, front row (from left) -- Sarah Kehm, Brittney Schlichte, Rachel Black, Angie Breuer and Emily Hutchins. Second row -- Adrianne Kessenich, Faith Zenk, Emily Calamanco, Sarah Feiges, Jesa Wolthuizen and Josephine Gerrietts. On staircase - Tessa Baker, Casey Leonard, Tara Lehner and Megan Dunn.

Judging is complete and now it's just the wait to see who will be the 2008 Plymouth County Fair Queen.

Judging for the 15 young ladies vying for the crown was held July 15 at the Primebank meeting room.

The queen will be crowned during a 7 p.m. program in the grandstand arena on Wednesday, July 23, the first day of the Plymouth County Fair.

The candidates, their parents, and sponsoring club are:

Tessa Baker, Akron, daughter of Noelle Knapp and Mike Baker, Akron-Westfield FFA.

Rachel Black, Akron, daughter of Marvin and Connie Bkack, Akron-Westfield FFA.

Angie Breuer, Le Mars, daughter of Steve and Lynn Breuer, Le Mars FFA.

Emily Calamanco, Le Mars, daughter of Debbie Cooper, American Panthers.

Megan Dunn, Merrill, daughter of Jay and Vickie Dunn, Stanton Lucky Clovers.

Josephine Gerrietts, Remsen, daughter of Todd and Laurie Gerrietts, Stars 'n Stripes.

Sarah Feiges, Sioux City, daughter of Bill and Debbie Feiges, Liberty Perry Pacers.

Emily Hutchins, Le Mars, daughter of John and Pam Hutchins, Grant Little Giants.

Sarah Kehm, Le Mars, daugher of David and Janet Kehm, Stanton Lucky Clovers.

Adrianne Kessenich, Le Mars, daughter of Jerry and Joan Kessenich, American Achievers.

Tara Lehner, Le Mars, daughter of Tom and DeAnn Lehner, Grant Clver Clovers.

Casey Leonard, Merrill, daughter of Susan and Mark Leonard, American Achievers.

Brittney Schlichte, daughter of Bill and Beth Schlichte, Grant Clever Clovers.

Jesa Wolthuizen, Le Mars, daughter of Jeff and Lisa Wolthuizen, Johnson Juniors.

Faith Zenk, Le Mars, daughter of Shannon Zenk, Perry Pals.

The candidates attended a get-acquainted event on June 22, along with the fair king candidates. Following a catered dinner, the group took a bus to Lewis Bowl North in Sioux City. Judges for the group ate the meal and participated in the bowling activity and had time to interact with the candidates.

The queen and king candidates also rode a float in the Ice Cream Days parade.
