Alison Kusler batted in the game winning run with her double in the bottom of the seventh as A-W took the 4-3 victory over MVAO Friday night.

A-W came back in the bottom of the seventh however. Ambra Coon knocked out an RBI single to pull A-W within one. The tying run was scored on a throwing error by the Rams. A Kusler double scored the winning run to end the game.
A-W totaled seven hits on the night, with two each coming from Kusler, Coon and Jordan Harris.
Kayla Smith started on the mound, throwing five innings, allowing two hits and striking out 10.
Harris came in to throw the final two innings and get credit for the Lady Westerners' win. She struck out one and gave up two hits as A-W won 4-3.
"MVAO is an excellent ball club," A-W coach Todd Colt said. "They played really solid until the last inning. They just had a couple bad bounces go against them.
"I thought we were a little flat, but a big part of that was because MVAO did not allow us to get anything going."
At Saturday's tournament in Remsen, the Lady Westerners opened with a 9-2 win over Kingsley-Pierson.
Harris pitched a three-hitter and tossed five K's in the win.
A-W got on the scoreboard first, with three runs in the second inning. The Lady Panthers pulled within one after scoring a run in the fourth and one in the fifth. But five Lady Westerner runs in the sixth and one more in the seventh sealed A-W's victory.
A-W totaled 10 hits in the game, with two each coming from Monica Harvey and Shelby Johnson.

In their second game of the tournament, A-W shut out Remsen-Union 10-0 in five innings.
Smith and Caitlin Heyl combined to pitch a one-hitter. Smith threw seven K's with no hits in the first three innings while Heyl gave up the lone hit and struck out two in the final two innings.
Harris and Coon had three hits apiece to lead the Lady Westerners, who totaled 14 hits in the game. Kusler and Karly Groon each had a pair of hits.

A-W (31-4) will host their final War Eagle Conference game of the season tonight as Gehlen Catholic comes to town. Regional tournament action begins Thursday against Hinton.
K-P also played Gehlen Catholic at Saturday's tournament in Remsen. The Lady Jays edged out the Lady Panthers 4-3 for the win.
Gehlen did their scoring early, with two runs in each of the first two innings.
With one out in the first, Danielle Gunter knocked out a base hit. Kayla Hatting singled, advancing Gunter to third. Gunter scored on a passed ball.
Lexi Wiltgen hit a ground out to advance Hatting to third. Hatting also scored on a passed ball.
In the second inning, Jess Timmins walked. Steph Rohe bunted to get to first and advance Timmins to third. Sarah Jentz hit a sacrifice bunt to score Timmins. Ashley Langel grounded out to score Rohe.
The Lady Panthers scored one in first, one in third and one in the sixth as they lost 6-3.
Offensively, Gehlen had six hits, with four of those coming in the first two innings.
"When we stopped hitting, we stopped scoring," Gehlen coach Patty Hatting said.
"I think the girls had a hard time adjusting to [Onna's] speed. For some reason, I think they tried to over-swing, which caused a lot of ground outs to the infield."
On the mound, Gunter got the win. She gave up three runs--two earned--on five hits, walked one and struck out five.

Later Saturday afternoon, River Valley threw a three-hitter as they defeated Gehlen 2-0.
Hatting, Jentz and Rohe each recorded a single in the Lady Jays' loss.
"We aren't hitting the ball, and that concerns me going into the tournament games this week," Hatting said. "We have to get our hitting back. The girls have the mechanics, they are just playing mind games with themselves. I know they can do it."
Gunter threw all seven innings for Gehlen. The junior gave up two unearned runs-- one in the first and one in the third--on four hits. She struck out four and walked two.
"Danielle looked strong in both games," Hatting said. "She threw well. Her pitching impressed me and she looked strong."
Gehlen (16-13, 9-8) closes out their conference season tonight on the road in Akron. The Lady Jays host Remsen St. Mary's Wednesday night in the first round of the regional tournament.
Remsen St. Mary's notched a pair of wins over the weekend, including an 8-6 edge over Remsen-Union at the Lady Rockets' tournament Saturday.
Emma Krier led the Hawks' offense with a three RBI triple. Kelsey Trejo knocked out three hits for RSM while Kristin Loutsch and Mercedees Ricke each had two hits. Stacie Ahlers, Loutsch and Ricke each had an RBI in the win.
Jennifer Feller got the win on the mound. The sophomore pitcher gave up six runs--five earned--on seven hits, walked three and struck out seven.

In their second game of the tournament, RSM was on the losing side in a close battle with River Valley. The Wolverines edged the Hawks 6-5.
River Valley took an early lead with a run in the first and two more in the third. RSM battled back in the sixth to tie things up at three runs apiece.
The seventh inning was the deciding factor as the Wolverines tallied three while the Hawks fell short with only two runs, giving River Valley the 6-5 win.
Trejo started on the mound for the Hawks, giving up three runs--all earned--on two hits, walking seven and striking out two in the first two innings.
In the final five, Feller gave up three runs--two earned--on two hits while walking five and striking out five.
Offensively, the Hawks totaled seven hits. Feller was 2-4 while Sadie Lewis went 2-3. Feller and Trejo each had a pair of RBI's.
On Friday night, RSM notched their third War Eagle Conference win of the season. The Hawks played host in their 4-3 victory over Unity Christian.
The Knights took the lead first, scoring a lone run in the top of the first, which was matched by a St. Mary's run in the bottom of the second.
In the top of the third, Unity took a 3-1 lead but then gave up three runs in the bottom of the fourth for the eventual RSM 4-3 victory.
The Hawks totaled five hits in the win. Loutsch went 1-3 with a double, Ahlers was 1-3 with an RBI and Trejo was 1-2 with an RBI. Lewis batted in a pair as she went 1-2 at the plate and Feller was 1-3 on the night.
Feller got the win on the mound, giving up three runs--two earned--on five hits, walking two and striking out seven.
With the weekend games, RSM improves to 3-14 in the conference and 5-20 overall. The Hawks host Hinton tonight in their final WEC match-up.
