Officers determined the incident happened some time after the store closed Friday and before 6:35 a.m. Saturday. Entrance was gained through the front door.
"They pried apart the aluminum frame and were able to just open it," with the door still locked, said Wendy Cody, assistant manager at CarGo, on Monday.
Once inside burglars stole an undisclosed amount of cash, cigarettes and other equipment.
Despite the break-in, it was business as usual Saturday.
The break-in follows a vandalism incident last Tuesday, June 10, when someone threw a cement block which shattered the glass of the front door. Police stated that no entry was gained into the building during the incident, which they believe took place between 3:40 a.m. and 4:40 a.m. The vandalism caused approximately $500 in damages.
According to Cody, Dan and Sue Steichen, of Remsen, own the store.
