Relay For Life ready to walk

The 12th Annual Plymouth County Relay For Life kicks off at 6 p.m. Friday, June 6, with opening ceremonies at Jim Lorenzen Field.

While teams will be walking from 7 p.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Saturday, the public is encouraged to attend activities throughout the evening as a part of the county's fundraising event for the American Cancer Society.

Event schedule includes:

5 p.m. - Concession stand opens

6 p.m. - Opening Ceremonies

6:30 p.m. Survivor Lap and Caregiver Walk

7 p.m. - local entertainment, children's games, activities.

10 p.m. - Luminaria ceremony, followed by Fight Back event

Fun Walks for teams begin at midnight and include:

Midnight - Bling Bling Walk

1 a.m. - '50s & '60s Walk

2 a.m. - Glow Walk

3 a.m. - Cookie Walk

4 a.m. Poker Walk

5 a.m. - Surprise Walk - You Decide

6 a.m. - Bubble Walk

Raffle tickets will be available for four items this year: an airplane bank, a toy tractor, an eyeglass case and sunglasses and a Relay For Life throw. Luminaria bags may also be purchased from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the event.

The event will end with a brief closing ceremony at 7 a.m.

The public is encouraged to attend and participate in the events, as well as walk on the track to view the hundreds of decorated luminaria bags in honor and remembrance of loved ones.

Relay For Life is a fun-filled overnight event designed to celebrate survivorship and raise money for research and programs of the American Cancer Society.
