Landfill amnesty days this weekend

Tuesday, June 3, 2008
The City of Le Mars is offering a free dumping for certain items at the Plymouth County Landfill June 5, 6 and 7.

For these Spring Clean Up days, the city is declaring an amnesty from the landfill disposal cost for up to 1,000 pounds per household of "throw away" material per household. The garbage must be delivered to the landfill. The City of Le Mars will pay the bill for that garbage, and it will not billed to the household.

Only residential properties are eligible for the three-day amnesty.

Commercial or industrial properties will still have to pay their dumping bill those days.

The city will not be picking up the items left on the curb. Residents are urged not to place items in front of their houses at the curbside.

Each residential household must make their own arrangements for hauling waste to the Plymouth County Landfill during the three-day clean up. They can do the hauling themselves or use friends, neighbors or any hauling firm of their choosing.

Fall clean-up days with landfill amnesty are set for September 18, 19 and 20, 2008.
