June 3 primary polling places set

Friday, May 30, 2008

Polls for the June 3 primary election will be open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. at 13 precincts in Plymouth County.

At the primary election, voters will choose either a Democrat or Republican ballot. Voters may change their party affiliation at the polling site, according to deputy auditor Cheri Nitzschke. "This will change their party at that time, and they cannot change back until after the (primary) election is over," she explained.

The Plymouth County Auditor's office will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. this Saturday, May 31, for those who want to obtain an absentee ballot or vote by absentee ballot. Absentee ballots may also be cast in the auditor's office from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, June 2.

Mailed in absentee ballots must be postmarked by Monday, June 2. Absentee ballots may also be hand-delivered to the auditor's office up until 9 p.m. Tuesday, June 3.

Voting locations are:

Precinct 1 - Akron Library Conference Room

Precinct 2 - Craig City Hall

Precinct 3 - Le Mars Public Library

Precinct 4 - Brunsville Legion Hall

Precinct 5 - Remsen Library

Precinct 6 - Westfield Community Center

Precinct 7 - Merrill Civic Center

Precinct 8 - Perry Township Hall

Precinct 9 - Hinton Community Center

Precinct 10 - Kingsley Community Center

Precinct 11 - Le Mars Convention Center

Precinct 12 - Le Mars Convention Center

Plymouth County residents who do not know which precinct they vote in may call the Plymouth County Auditor's office at 546-6100.

Sample ballots were published in the May 19 edition of the Le Mars Daily Sentinel.
