A police chase after an 18-year-old who was carrying marijuana ended in the creek next to the Floyd River at West Floyd Park, but not before the suspect ditched the drugs underwater.
Joshua Charles Presuhn, of Le Mars, was apprehended in the park after an officer stopped to talk to him and another individual, both whom the police had information connecting them to involvement with drugs.
According to the police department, while an officer was talking with Presuhn, he discovered what was presumed to be marijuana. Presuhn tried to run away on foot, leading officers into the creek. Presuhn squatted in the water, and the officers saw him shuffling something around with his hands. An officer ordered Presuhn to get out of the water, and he stood up and walked toward them. However, officers suspected the 18-year-old had stashed something in the mud.
The police then summoned members of the Plymouth County Dive team to find the drugs that were hidden underwater.
They found a ziplock bag of marjiuana.
Presuhn was jailed and is now out on an unsecured appearance bond of $1,000.
The reason i am a former resident is because i went to college to pursue an engineering degree. Therefore, i believe that this is proof that i am not an idiot.
Now, to explain myself. The article seems funny to me because a dive team is called to a creek. Maybe that should have been explained better. Im sure many people had the same mental picture pop into their heads. Im sure that many people dont know protocol. So, just to get this straight, whenever any water is involved, such as a creek, puddle, etc., the dive team must be called?
Also, name calling and swearing is just uncalled for, bud.
I used QUOTATION marks because I was QUOTING what you said. No other reason.
My involvement is nothing other than a person who is disgusted by what drugs do to people and those in their lives. I think that we could all name people that are associatied with it. But drugs are not just used by "scumbags" or "little pukes" - there are ALOT of professional, business men/women that have also lost their battle with addiction. Addiction is not based on social standing or wealth ~ it grabs ahold of those that are weak enough to let it. There are no exceptions.
If your relative is attempting to better himself, than thats great. However your previous posts made it sound like he was never involved with drugs. That just because he hangs out with certain people he is guilty by association. My point is that we both know that isnt true. Sometimes it takes someone having a wake up call to straighten them up, and I hope thats true for him.
I am far from niave believe me. You used an awful lot of " " so that tends to make me think that you might just be into the ring of druggy friends that "he" is friends with. I do not like any of the little pukes he is friends with and not one of them makes the exception. I could name any of their names and most of the people on here would know them and would agree with me, they are druggy idiots and will sink anyone who is their friend. Luckily my "relative" has since blown them off because he is trying to better himself and doesn't need some scum bag dragging him into the "mud".
"If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck...its a duck!".
'Amanda83' how naive I find you for thinking that your "relative" is not involved in drugs. I understand that there are some people out there that are "guilty by association" but you and I both know that isnt the case with "HIM". And if you do actually believe this, than maybe you should do some homework on HIM (court records ARE public) -- Or you can just ask him why he didnt have anything on him that day. If you honestly think he isnt involved in drugs, you might be suprised with his answer IF he is honest with you.
I know, I know... you will say it is everyone elses fault that people get busted. They hang out with the wrong people, it wasnt theirs ~ it was their friends.. the list can go on and on.
The fact is that drugs are illegal. Anyone that has them in their possession (and/or selling) should be charged accordingly. There needs to be consequences to peoples actions. If your stupid enough to get involved with it, than in my opinion you deserve what you get.
I wonder if they actually had to dive? lol I am picturing 10 grown men in wet suits and a snorkle laying on the bed of the creek mushing all around trying to find something lol
dangerous in a creek? hmm, ok
They called a dive team because it could have been dangerous they have to take all precautions
Im just saying it was alittle unnecessary to call the dive team. If the culprit squatted in the water, why couldnt the police just go out and get it. I just think it was a waste, thats all. I dont like seeing tax dollars being wasted. None the less, I applaude the police for catching him. No matter how lazily they did so.
no one is mad that this idiot got caught.
I just don't understand why everyone say the cops are bad when they are doing their job and everyone is mad cause they are caught
LOL I am the farthest from a drug user and if you knew who I was you would feel like a complete tool for thinking so. I am completely rolling on the floor right now laughing!
I just know for a fact, and could state names of why this "other" person is affiliated with drugs. He is not a druggy or a drug dealer, he is friends with losers who do drugs. And how do I know this? Why not because I have to find my drugs elsewhere but because he is my relative and I did find it offensive he was put in cuffs and then about 5 minutes later let go on his own because he was doing nothing wrong. That is why they mentioned him ONCE, because they had nothing on him to report otherwise.
Try again rucrazy
Former Resident.... If I remember correctly, when the cops were finding out who did all the burglaries in town, you were complaining that they were not doing their jobs correctly and that they should be looking for the drugs in the town. Now that they have done that, you are complaining again! Maybe it is a good thing that you are a "former" resident.
call in the dive team huh? they got nothin better to do around here? they probably wouldnt need call a dive team if the cops would have just waded in the water. naw, nevermind, they probably woulda got wet and dirty, and that would just be no good.
rucrazy: i think it completely unfair to insinuate that another commenter is a drug user because she (i assume from the handle 'amanda83') questions the cops' actions. that 'you're either with you or you're against us (and by being against us, you must be abject or) mentality' is what kills debate that could lead to better government at all levels.
sometimes cops botch things while doing good actions (like arresting a drug pusher). we can all hope to retain the good action while eliminating those botches but only if we discuss those botches.
I think the cops did a good job, keep up the work!!! If they are good cops they have been following leads on this kid and finally caught up to him. As for the other guy they wouldn't have just put handcuffs on the guy for no reason. There was probably a reason. Where is this kid at now?? If he is in jail then there must have been a reason. Amanda83 just because you have to go somewhere else to get your drugs, I commend the cops for making another arrest in this town.
who cares if the guy was there to he is guilty lock them both up. thats more idiot drug users out of this town for a while
They forgot to leave out that the officer drove up on the lawn at the 2 men talking and put the other (not josh) in cuffs to protect himself. Why is there a need to cuff a guy riding a bicycle? Talk about guilty until proven innocent huh? Guilty by association thats why!
