Joe and Betty Arens of Remsen announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Abby Elizabeth, to Stephen Thomas Waldschmitt, son of Dave and Donna Waldschmitt, also of Remsen.

The couple is planning a 2 p.m. ceremony on June 28, 2008, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Remsen. The reception and dance will follow at the Avalon Ballroom in Remsen.

Abby is a 2002 graduate of Remsen St. Mary's High School and a 2008 graduate of the University of Iowa with a master's degree in speech language pathology. Following the wedding she will be working as a speech language pathologist for Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare in Cedar Falls.

Steve is a 2000 graduate of Remsen St. Mary's High School and a 2002 graduate of Hawkeye Community College with an associate's degree in applied sciences. He currently is co-owner of W & W Construction in Cedar Falls.
