The Gehlen Catholic boys' regular-season schedule came to an all-too-familiar close Friday in Westwood as the meet was stopped after four events because of rain.

Several meets have been cancelled all together or postponned because of weather this season, making the final week before the district meet in Lawton a scramble to make final preparations.

The Jays were off to a good start Friday through four events, winning one and placing second in two.

Gehlen's win came from Taylor Smith in the high jump (5-8). The Jays' 4x800 team of Kevin Shea, Eric Hoffman, Austin Langel and Taylor Wurth was second (8:56) and Jordan Freking claimed runner-up honors in the 3,200 (10:47).

Gehlen will now run Saturday in Lawton at districts.
