The Sioux City company submitted the lowest general contract bid of $567,502, which included a $29,503 deduction for vinyl siding on the exterior of the clinic. A masonry siding will be used instead.

Mike Donlin, FVH administrator, said the option for the vinyl siding was part of the bid package, but was determined not to be cost effective.
"The clinic will still look very nice," Donlin said. "Remsen will be very proud to have this building in its downtown."
The clinic will be built on East Second Street just west of the Remsen Post Office.
The next lowest bid of $592,900 was from Holtze Construction, of Sioux City, and the highest bid came from Wiltgen Construction, in Le Mars, at $699,000. Both those numbers also included the deduction for the siding and had construction completion dates of Dec. 12.
Entire cost for the new clinic is estimated at $848,994 and will be paid using a variety of sources. Money will come from $94,352 in federal appropriations, $50,000 each from the City of Remsen and Remsen Utilities, $25,000 from Plymouth County, $329,642 from FVH reserves and a $300,000 federal loan.
A ground breaking ceremony for the new clinic is scheduled at 3 p.m. Thursday, May 8 at the building site.
