Second LCS bomb threat determined to be hoax

Thursday, April 24, 2008

A bomb threat note found in a girls' bathroom at Le Mars Community Middle School Wednesday was a fake, authorities decided. The school was not evacuated.

According to a report from the Le Mars Police Department, the note was found on the floor of a middle school girls' bathroom at 12:20 p.m. Wednesday.

"The threat was determined to not be credible and there was no danger to those in the building," the police statement said.

Several sixth grade girls have been questioned by school officials and law enforcement.

No criminal charges have yet been file.

Investigation is continuing by both the school and police.

This is the second bomb threat note left at the school this spring. On April 9, a bomb threat note was left in the middle school but authorities quickly determined it was a false threat. A 14-year-old eighth grader has been charged with making a threat to place an explosive devise where it would endanger people or property.
