What do you think about the smoking ban?

"I kind of agree with it, but I don't think it's fair it wasn't banned in casinos. If they were going to ban smoking in the state of Iowa, they should have done it across the board."

Mikkel TeBrink, Le Mars

"From my standpoint I like it because I'm not a smoker. If I go out to a bar, when I leave I don't want to smell like a cigarette."

Todd Anderson, Le Mars

"I don't think it's the government's place to tell us what we can or can't do. Nobody's forced to go to a smoking establishment. That's their choice."

Ross Mosher, Le Mars

I agree with warwagon. I too respect peoples right to smoke. But anymore when I go into a resturant my family walks out and smells like smoke. My young kids don't like to be around someone who is smokimg and this was happening in resturants. I am sorry if the people who smoke can't give up 1 hr without smoking then they have an additction. Maybe they could get a take out.

My problem with this ban is that we the people didn't get to vote on it. Shouldn't something like this be up to us not our government? I am fortunate enough to have some great parents. I don't need another "Dad" telling me what I can and can't do. We listen to law makers that vote on there OWN RAISES, They make decisions without even asking us. Its ridiculous. We live in a country that preaches how great democracy is and its fair and blah blah blah. But when it comes to decisions that affect us, we have no voice on the matter. Or wonderful elected leaders make them for us. I think its time we really look at who we elect to represents us in the capital. Cause obviously Culver is not in there for us. OH by the way Culver congradulations on that Bully Law.. It really taught our kids a lesson! What a Joke!!!!

I respect people's right to smoke. They have the right to take health risks. It's their choice. It's not mine. I agree that non-smokers could choose not to go to a smoking establishment, but their choices for a social outing on Friday or Saturday night were reduced considerably.
