Joyce M. Ohlendorf, 61, of Remsen, died Wednesday, April 16, 2008, at the Happy Siesta Health Care Center in Remsen.
Joyce Marie Ohlendorf was born Sept. 9, 1946, in Le Mars, the daughter of Weldon Henry and Ida Louise (Kirchoff) Ohlendorf. She was baptized on Sept. 22, 1946, at Trinity Lutheran Church and confirmed on April 10, 1960, at Trinity Lutheran Church. Joyce lived most of her life on the family farm in Amherst Township, rural Cherokee County, Iowa.
Joyce graduated from Marcus High School in May of 1964. In November 2005, she moved to the Happy Siesta Health Care Center in Remsen.
Survivors include her mother, Ida Ohlendorf of Remsen; two sisters, Joan Daniels of Remsen and Mary Hartman and her husband Gerald of Merrill; a brother, Rev. Ray Ohlendorf and his wife Bev of Taylorsville, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews.
Joyce was preceded in death by her father, Weldon Ohlendorf Sr. and a brother Weldon Ohlendorf Jr.
Funeral services were at 10 a.m. today (Friday) at Trinity Lutheran Church, rural Marcus, with the Rev. Don Meyer officiating. Interment was in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation was from 9 a.m. Friday until service time at the church. Arrangements are with the Carlsen Funeral Home of Le Mars.
Pallbearers were Steve Niehus, Kory Kroeger, Martin Letsche, Jerry Schorg, Donald Gettner, and Mark Hartman.
