Mickey was born March 17, 1928 at Dallas, Texas, the daughter of Rufus and Ruby (Pynes) Wyrick. She attended school and graduated from Crozier High School of Dallas, Texas in 1945. She obtained a cosmetology certificate while in high school. Mickey married Howard Newton on Aug. 21, 1946, in Tekamah, Neb. They made their home in the Emmet and O'Neill area. Howard died Oct. 7, 1989.
Mickey was a member of the United Methodist Church in O'Neill, the Order of the Eastern Star and the VFW Auxiliary.
She is survived by one son, Dewey Newton and his wife, Teresa of O'Neill, Neb.; two daughters, Patsy Hurlbert and her husband, Allen of O'Neill, Jayne Newton of Le Mars; seven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Howard and two brothers.
Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. today (Monday) at the United Methodist Church in O'Neill with the Rev. Lance Clay officiating. Burial was in the O'Neill Cemetery. Visitation was Sunday, from 5 to 8 p.m., with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. at Biglin's Mortuary in O'Neill.
