Greg and Carol Smidt of Le Mars and Frances Murphy of Granville announce the engagement of their children, Emily Smidt and Tim Murphy. Tim is also the son of the late Marge Murphy.

A July 12, 2008, wedding at Calvin Church in Le Mars is planned.

Emily is a 2000 graduate of Le Mars Community High School. She is employed at Pella Windows in Soux Center.

Tim is a 1991 graduate of Granville Spalding Catholic High School. He is employed at Jellema Construction in Alton and is engaged in farming.
