Verna Nemmers, 90, of Le Mars, died unexpectedly Thursday Feb. 14, 2008 at her home.
Verna was born May 11, 1917, at Le Mars, the daughter of John G. and Anna (Ley) Nemmers. She was raised in Le Mars and graduated from St. Joseph's Catholic High School. She had been employed for several years with National Biscuit Company in Sioux City and then for many years she worked in the auditor's office at the Plymouth County Courthouse in Le Mars.
Verna was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and the Ladies Aide.
Survivors include two sisters-in-law: Celeste Nemmers and Dorothy Nemmers, both of Le Mars; and 14 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers: Orville and Elmer Nemmers; a sister Evelyn Nemmers; two nephews: Michael Nemmers in infancy and Richard Nemmers; and a niece Ann Boetger.
Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m. today (Tuesday) at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Le Mars, with the Rev. Kevin Richter officiating. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery in Le Mars.
Visitation was from 9 a.m. until service time at the church Tuesday.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Feuerstein Funeral Home in Le Mars.
