Gene and Adri Ruisch of Le Mars will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house, hosted by their children and grandchildren. The open house will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 30, at Rejoice! Community Church, 1320 Third Ave. S.E., Le Mars. Cards may be sent to them at 201 11th St. S.W., Le Mars, Iowa 51031. The couple request no gifts.

Their five children are Ronda and Brad Noteboom of Maurice, Sharolyn and Randy Christians of Grand Rapids, Mich., Nancy and Mike Van Surksum of Orange City, Lisa and Jim Kuiper of Downers Grove, Ill., and Joel and Dara Ruisch of Pella. Their grandchildren are Eric and Rachel Van Der Heide, Jonathan and Melissa Noteboom, Justin and Gretchen Vore, Joshua Christians, Matthew Christians, Ryan Van Surksum, Andy Van Surksum, Tyler Van Surksum, Alexis Van Surksum, Brian Kuiper, Jason Kuiper, Daniel Kuiper, Amy Kuiper, Jaime Ruisch, Allison Ruisch, and Brandon Ruisch.

Gene Ruisch and Adri Schiebout were married June 4, 1957, at Ireton Christian Reformed Church, Ireton. They farmed for several years near Ireton prior to moving to Le Mars in May 2005. Gene is employed at Midwest Equipment in Le Mars. Adri is employed at Plains Area Mental Health, Le Mars. They spend their summers working at Eaglecrest's Alaska Mission Adventures near Palmer, Alaska.
