OMAHA, Neb. -- D. Elaine (Groepper) Bartels, 70, of Omaha, Neb., died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2007, in Omaha.

D. Elaine Bartels was born March 17, 1937, in Cushing. She was a longtime educator in Iowa and Nebraska.

Survivors include her husband, Al Bartels; a son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Penny Bartels; a grandson, Jordan Bartels; a niece, Brenda (Tony) Pignataro; a nephew, Michael Bullock; a great-nephew, Steven Pignataro; a great -niece, Shannon (Nick) Birkle; aunts, Freida Brosamle and Hazel Wonder; and many cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arnold and Melinda Groeper; and a sister, Judith Reed.

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Calvary Lutheran Church, 2941 North 80th Street, Omaha. Graveside services will be 3 p.m. Friday in Cushing Cemetery at Cushing. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, at Roeder Mortuary in Omaha.
