Marvin Wayne Prins was born March 28, 1938, in Hull, the son of Harry and Elizabeth Prins. He graduated from Sioux Center Community High School. Marv then served in the Air National Guard.
On May 27, 1960, he was united in marriage to Rose Schuiteman. They spent their years together in Sioux Center. He owned and operated his own business as a painter and decorator until his retirement. As a part-time retiree, he worked at the local car wash.
He was an active member of New Life Reformed Church. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, golfing, gardening, and spending time with family and friends.
Marv is survived by his wife, Rose Prins of Sioux Center; son and his wife, Mike and Rhonda Prins of Houston, Texas; daughter and her husband, Dawn and Gene Wubben of Sioux Falls, S.D.; son and his wife, Bryan and Erin Prins of St. Louis, Mo.; daughter and her husband, Kim and Adam Schroeder of Le Mars; seven grandchildren; sister and her husband, Joan and Les Te Grotenhuis of Sioux Center and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Elizabeth Prins of Sioux Center.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at New Life Reformed Church in Sioux Center with the Rev. Carl Boersma officiating. Interment will be held prior to the memorial service in Memory Gardens Cemetery of Sioux Center.
A prayer service will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at New Life Reformed Church.
Visitation will be held today (Monday) at Memorial Funeral Home from 2 to 8 p.m.,, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m.
