Harvey O. Larson was born on Dec. 24, 1922, in Brookings, S.D., the son of Oscar and Bertha (Brandt) Larson. Harvey received his education in rural schools in Brookings County and was a graduate of the Elkton High School in 1940. He was united in marriage to Frances Miller on July 1, 1943, in Elkton, S.D. After their marriage they farmed near Elkton until 1975 when they retired from farming and moved into Elkton. In 1986, they moved into Brookings.
He was a member of the United Church Of Christ, the IOOF, Issac Walton League and the Farmers Union. He enjoyed fishing and especially spending time with his family and friends.
Harvey is survived by his wife Frances of Brookings; three daughters Judy and Dan Carpenter of Le Mars, Lois and Ray Wacha of Wahpeton, N.D., Wanda and Gene Risch of South Haven, Minn.; two sons Marlow and Linda Larson of Victorville, Calif., and David Larson of Flandreau, S.D.; 14 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather Walter Kramer and one daughter--in-law Lynn Larson.
Memorial services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 12, at United Church of Christ in Brookings. Burial was in Elkton City Cemetery.
