Ruth Behrens, 79, of rural Kingsley, died Saturday, Nov. 3, 2007, at Happy Siesta Care Center in Remsen.

Ruth Marie Behrens was born Aug. 28, 1928, on a farm near Le Mars, the daughter of William and Anna (Adden) Kilker. She attended country school near her home. Ruth and her mother later moved into Le Mars where Ruth was employed with Aalfs manufacturing for seven years.

On Feb. 19, 1957, Ruth and Loren Behrens were united in marriage at St. John's Lutheran Church in Le Mars. The couple made their home on a farm near Pierson. In 1967 the family moved to their present farm north of Kingsley. Along with assisting Loren with farming Ruth enjoyed following her children's school activities, flower and vegetable gardening, and dining out.

She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Remsen and had been a member of Ladies' Aid.

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband Loren of rural Kingsley; a daughter Lorna Kass and her husband Jerome of rural Remsen; a son Wayne Behrens and his wife Judy of rural Kingsley; two granddaughters Mallory and Kelsey Behrens of rural Kingsley; a brother Edward Kilker and his wife Mae of Le Mars; and a sister-in-law Dorothy Kilker of Le Mars, as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister and her husband Lorraine and Harry Brunkhorst; and a brother Robert Kilker.

Funeral services will take place at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Remsen with the Rev. Craig Miller officiating. Burial will follow at the Remsen Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Remsen. The family will be present from 5 to 8 p.m. with a prayer service set for 7 p.m. There will also be one hour of visitation at the church prior to the funeral.
