Frieda B.J. Groenhagen, 74, Manito, Ill., died Monday, Oct. 29, in Springlake Township, Tazewell County, Ill.
Frieda was born Sept. 27, 1933, in Le Mars, to Henry and Karla E. Ida Groenhagen.
Frieda worked as a cook at the Dining Car Restaurant in South Pekin for six years. She retired in 1986.
Frieda was a member of the Peoria Area Accordion Club, Miller Melodies, Lyn Mahr Red Hat Society in Pekin and the Pekin Garden Club.
Frieda was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters.
Surviving are three children, Lee Hoeft of Michigan, Tarry (and Teri) Hoeft of Manito, Ill., and Sandie (and Tony) Nostrand of Cambridge, Ohio; three grandchildren, Andrea (and Matt) Dutton of Termont, Ill., April Flowers of East Peoria, Ill., and Kyle Hoeft of Manito, Ill.; one great-grandson, Adam Dutton; four sisters, Elaine Spracklen of Pekin, Ill., Lily Langel of Le Mars, Joan (and John) De Sutter of Manito, Ill., and Darlene (and Charles) Umholtz of Hanna City, Ill., and Frieda's special friend, Dean Colson of Manito, Ill.
Graveside services will be held at noon, Friday, at the Cottonwood Cemetery in Hanna City, Ill., with the Rev. Terry Edele officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m., Thursday at the Henderson Funeral Home in Pekin, Ill. Burial will be in the Cottonwood Cemetery in Hanna City.
