Mike and Kathy Detloff of Le Mars announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Melissa of Minneapolis, Minn., to J.D. Seger, of Minneapolis. He is the son of Mike and Bree Seger of Santa Rosa, Calif.

The couple is planning a Dec. 8, 2007, wedding at 4 p.m. at the United Methodist Church of Le Mars. The dinner and dance will immediately follow the ceremony at the Le Mars Convention Center.

Melissa is a graduate of Augustana College in Sioux Falls, S.D., and is currently working for Thrivent Financial as a marketing specialist in Minneapolis.

J.D. is a graduate of Texas Tech in Lubbock, Texas, and is currently workng for Premium Waters as a regional sales manager in Minneapolis.
