Edwin F. Henrich was born Jan. 11, 1914, at Le Mars, the son of Martin and Katie (Konrady) Henrich. He was raised on the family farm three miles northwest of Le Mars. He attended St. Joseph's School in Le Mars. At the age of 16, his father died, and Edwin took over the responsibilities of the family farm.
Edwin was united in marriage to Arlyne Binneboese on Feb. 8, 1937, in Le Mars. The couple celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in February 2007.
Ed was the embodiment of the self-made man. Most of what he knew, he learned through experience. Ed was innovative and willing to take risks to pursue what he valued. As a young man, he was an accomplished boxer. He loved the outdoors; especially fishing, hunting and trapshooting. Most of all, Ed will be remembered as a man of faith and fidelity, loyal to his family and friends; a man of great courage and conviction.
