Todd and Lisa Sitzmann of Merrill announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Erin Rae, to Brett Daniel Lyon, son of Mike and Shauna Lyon of Cleveland, Mo.

The couple is planning a New Year's Eve wedding at 7:30 p.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Le Mars. A reception and dance will follow at the Le Mars Convention Center.

Erin is a 2001 graduate of Gehlen Catholic High School and a 2004 graduate of the University of Northern Iowa with a bachelor's degree in mathematics education. She is employed at Raymore-Peculiar High School in Kansas City, Mo.

Brett is a 2001 graduate of Cass-Midway High School and earned a bachelor's degree in social studies education from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 2004. He is employed as a teacher and coach at Sunny Vale Middle School in Kansas City, Mo.
