The couple celebrated with family and friends at an open house held June 23 at Westcliffe, Colo., hosted by their children which included a time of fun, games and reminiscing. More than 30 family members traveled from Nebraska, South Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa and Colorado to attend the celebration.
Their children are Glenn and Terri Rowenhorst Tiede of rural Westcliffe, Colo., Vicky and Mike Brenner of Winterset and Margaret and Brock Timbers of Rosemount, Minn. They have two grandchildren, Logan and Tristan Timbers.
Glendon Tiede and Helen Lagge were married June 2, 1957, at the Methodist Church in Tripp, S.D. The couple had been high school sweethearts, and served as the "brave and princess' during their high school homecoming celebration. They renewed their wedding vows during their daughter Vicky's wedding on June 2, 2001.
The Tiedes have lived in Le Mars since 1967. Both taught in the Le Mars Community Schools, Glenn as business teacher in the high school and Helen as an aide at Kluckhohn Elementary and as a middle school and high school special education aide. They retired in 1996.
